Find
the Airmail desktop shortcut on your desktop and click it to start Airmail.
Airmail
should open at the [Message Index]
screen. This is the starting point for
any new email message.
1. Click on FILE/NEW - the Airmail E-mail Client and the Address Book window
will open.

In the Address Book, click on NEW -
The Address Properties window will open.
3.
At the top in the NAME field, enter
your name
or call
sign or “me”
4.
In the TO field, enter the everyday
e-mail address (e.g. W8xxx@yahoo.com) used to receive
e-mail addressed to you.
5.
In the OPTIONS - Post Via field in
the lower half of the window, enter WL2K
6.
In the upper right corner, click OK. The Address Book window will
remain open.
7.
Highlight your name or call sign or “me” and click OK.
You
are now at the Airmail E-mail Client ready for preparation of an e-mail. The TO
field should have automatically loaded your name or call
sign or “me” as follows :
TO: "name or call
sign or “me” <your everyday email address>
8.
In the SUBJECT field, enter “Test
Message via Airmail”
9. Load the large lower window with any text
you would like enter.
10. Check that the POST VIA field at the upper right indicates WL2K .
11. Look at the top row of icons, right under
Tools is a mailbox icon. Click on the Mailbox icon. Clicking the Mailbox
icon will put the message in the Airmail Outbox.
The message will be sent the next time Airmail links to a Participating Mail Box Operation
(PMBO).
NOTE:
You may have to click on the Outbox folder icon on the very left side of the
screen to open the Outbox.
Look
at the message listed in the Outbox.
You will see the message header with the Mailbox
icon in front of it. The Mailbox icon means the message is
queued for transmission the next time you link to a PMBO.
The
Title Bar should indicate Airmail
[Message Index] window.
IMPORTANT:
TO SEND THE E-MAIL, YOUR COMPUTER MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET.
12. On the Menu Bar, across the top on the
Airmail [Message Index] window, click on MODULES/Telnet Client

Using the drop-down window, load one of the PMBO Telnet servers in the Connect to: window

On the far left, click on the green Go button.
The
Telnet Client screen will show a connect with the PMBO server and send the
message in a few seconds.
15. After 10 or 15 minutes, check your everyday
e-mail inbox for your “Test Message via Airmail” which you have sent to “yourcallsign@winlink.org” using Airmail.

Scroll
down the left side of the page and click Webmail.
Click
on "Winlink
2000 WebMail Access:" for the Login screen
If
you click Help, it will give Instructions for Using Winlink 2000
WebMail
Click on Webmail on the upper right
of the HELP screen to return to the Login screen
Load
your callsign in the Callsign field. Click on “Send
me my Password” in lower field.
Take a break! After 15 or 20 minutes, return to the Airmail program and repeat steps 13, 14, and 15 above. This procedure polls the Winlink system to receive a message back with a password. You may have to repeat this several times. If you are using computer operating system Windows 95, ME, 98, or 98SE, you have reached the point where you cannot continue further withWinlink2000. Airmail will serve you handsomely for all the peer-to-peer and client-to-server connectivity needed for emergency operations. Those using the Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems may continue through completion of this course.
